Direct Admissions

Florida Children's Hospital has established a simplified admission process utilizing a pediatric admission nurse for the Pediatric, Peditric Progressive Care and Kid's Stop units. The nurse will walk your office through the pre-admission process and handle all direct admissions from your office. To contact the Pediatric Admission Nurse, please call 407-303-5600 x 6324.

Once the nurse has gathered the information needed for admission, she will set up a process for communicating with you whether via fax, pager or phone call to your office to notify you of the bed assignment and estimated time of admission. It is our goal that the admission nurse help alleviate the stress of getting your patient into the hospital.

Use of Hospitalist

If you wish to use a hospitalist, Florida Children's Hospital works with two groups. We encourage you to call these groups directly to arrange for an admission. Your office can make arrangements with them by calling:

For Intensive Care Admissions

Physicians can refer his or her patients to the intensivists directly for admission in
the PICU. This is done through a phone call to the intensivist.

The intensivist will update your office directly regarding the status
of your patients in the PICU.
